What a fun evening we had on Tuesday 11th June when our speaker/singer was David Andrews with his guitar and an interesting view of music and singing. David a teenager of the 50’s was then, like a lot of his contemporaries, into playing the guitar and since has researched the way so many tunes are very similar with different words. This is why we remember the songs of that era so well. It was surprising how many of the songs we knew and it wasn’t long before he had us all singing along and believe it or not remembering the words. We even had a go at a rap rendition.  A really enjoyable and amusing time was had by all.

Following the success of last month’s recipes we were asked to bring along ideas for ‘leftovers’. The decision now is whether all these culinary delights are put into a book or recipe cards. Whilst on the subject of food we did have some delicious cakes and biscuits at our teatime break this month.

Plans are now being talked about for the WI Centenary year in 2015 and members are being asked for any ideas for celebrating this momentous event.

A very successful walk was held on 20th May and a good sum of money was raised for the excellent cause ACWW (Associated Country Women of the World).  This is an international membership organisation supporting rural women and their families through education, training and community development programmes.

An outing to Sevington Victorian School has been arranged on July 3rd and other events like Edington Fair were discussed and plans finalised.

Our next meeting is on Tuesday 9th July when we will be learning and hearing about the Mounted Police, do come along and join us.
