The 10th Annual Jazz Barbecue at Edington Priory Church will take place on Friday 26th July 2013. The featured band this year will be Cuff Billett`s New Europa Jazz Band and tickets, priced £10, will shortly be available from Maggie Atterbury on 01380 830452 and Robin Wilson 01380 830566.
Bar and barbecue will be in the church car park and the barbecue will be fired up by 7.00 p.m. Music will commence by 7.30. p.m. with two intervals giving ample time for eating and drinking.
Cuff Billett, like many other good musicians, started playing when he was 16 but had a day job. When he was 23, he travelled to New Orleans to play with the “greats” and soak up the atmosphere and enlarge his repertoire. (One always hears great tunes from Cuff`s Band!) His current band has been working together, virtually unchanged, for at least forty years. They play locally in Hampshire but are often seen at the British Jazz Festivals. Cuff is well known on the continent and often guests with international groups. If you want a taste of what`s to come, find him on the web!
