WI News for December and January

As the year is fast drawing to a close and our thoughts are turning to the upcoming festivities, we are keenly looking forward to displaying the results of our November pottery workshop with Trevor Pictor from The White Horse Pottery.   Doubtless our Christmas trees will be adorned with our beautifully made trinkets, however making these lovely items could prove to be a little messy!

During 2018 our two 80th birthday celebrations, spread across the spring and summer, were definitely the highlights of the year and we are clearly continuing to demonstrate that the ethos of the WI – to educate, inform, campaign, share skills and meet new friends –  is just as relevant now as it was in 1938.  Next year sees the centenary of the Wiltshire Federation and there are special events being organised which will mean that our own Joan Gifford, who is Chair of the Wiltshire Federation of WIs, will be even busier than this first year of her leadership has proved to be.

Members of the Edington & Tinhead WI are a friendly crowd and we are always very pleased to welcome new members and guests.  Do come along to our first meeting of 2019 and “try us out” to see how you feel about joining – we really have come a long way from our traditional ‘Jam and Jerusalem’ image.   On Tuesday 8 January we will be hearing all about ‘Sun, Sea and the Reality of Living in Fiji’ from Roy Zaman so please do join us at the Parish Hall at 7:30pm.

Meanwhile, we wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.
