Parish Council news for September

It is with Sadness that we remember Simon Hunt who has recently died. He was an active member of the Parish council serving as Chairman for several years.  He was a local man who has always been interested and actively involved in village life, being a founder member of the link, Station Yard project and Eves. The village has lost one of its stalwarts. Our thoughts go out to his wife and family.

The villages’ neighbourhood watch has lapsed in recent years. We are looking to re launch it, to do so we need some volunteers to act as co coordinators please contact Malcolm Wieck  830256 if interested.

There has been a house burgled in the village during September while the owners were on holiday.

Speed watch Mr Lupton has kindle volunteered to act as co coordinator of speed watch so hopefully we will again have the speed cameras in the village in the near future. However we do need a few more volunteers to help man the device. It only needs a couple of hours of your time on an ad hoc basis. Full training is given by the police. If interested contact Malcolm Wieck 830256.

Best Kept Village competition We are Delighted to announce that we came 3rd in the county in the medium village category with a score of 75. The winners were All Cannings with 80. So we were very close. Well done to everybody who worked hard to make the village look its best.

Play Field  We have been awarded a grant by the area board covering half the cost of new play equipment for our youngest residents. We now need to raise the rest £3500. Our thanks go to the May ball and The Fair for their donations. the Three Daggers are looking at fund raising to help, but any further donations from groups or villagers would be welcome. The equipment has now been ordered and should be in place by half term.

We have had a complaint from the Three Daggers that families are using their car park when visiting the playing fields which is compromising their business as customers cannot park. The car park at the Three Daggers is private and for the customers of the pub and shop only we urge villagers to respect this.
