The Britten Sinfonia is recognised as being one of the pre-eminent orchestral ensembles playing today and have been pushing the boundaries of ensemble playing with stunningly high quality performances for 30 years. We are delighted that three of their Wind Principals—Nicholas Daniel OBE, oboe, Joy Farrall, clarinet, and Sarah Burnett, bassoon—have got together to form a Wind Trio and will perform specially for us. All have important and respected musical lives outside of the Sinfonia; Nicholas Daniel is one of the UK’s most well-known oboe soloists, and both Nicholas and Joy are Founder Members of the Sinfonia. There is a surprisingly large and varied repertoire of music for this particular instrumental combination, from Beethoven onwards, and their programme will offer some unexpected delights as well as the comfort of the familiar.
