Edington Parish Council celebrate their clerk’s fifty years service.

Malcolm Wieck has just celebrated his fifty years as clerk to Edington Parish Council and it is believed that he is the longest serving clerk in Wiltshire and one of only a handful of clerks in the entire country who have served for fifty years. Malcolm took up the role in April 1974 and is still serving the parish council and is looking forward to his sixty years as clerk!

Recently past and present councillors met in the Parish Hall with some of Malcolm’s friends and the Chair of Wiltshire Council to celebrate the occasion and present him with gifts.

The present Parish Council chairman John Pollard said “He has been a very dedicated and loyal officer of the council and many past and present councillors are indebted to him for his support over the years. He has a vast reservoir of knowledge on parish council matters and can always find the answer to any council question. He is a very professional, meticulous and hard working clerk who also juggles his work with that of assistant priest for the Bratton, Edington, Coulston, Imber and Erlestoke benefice.”
