Edington & District Gardening Club – May news

LupinsWe are moving into a busy but enjoyable time in the garden. We have been getting some Spring weather. At least we hope it is Spring and not our Summer!

At gardening club we had our AGM in May and reflected on a year of really good speakers and wonderful trips to other gardens including Hauser & Wirth in Bruton, Iford Manor and Westonbirt at Christmas. We learnt about dahlias, coppicing, bees, chickens and how to keep our flower beds and containers at their very best.

We have lots of trips planned and still a few places left, so do look at the Edington village website for a link to our page, (edingtonwiltshire.org.uk). Trips planned include Mottisfont  Abbey 15th June and Sherborne Castle 13th July.

At our club meeting on 7th July, Gill Hazell will be talking about classic, rare and unusual bulbs.

Visitors are always made very welcome at our meetings and events and tea and biscuits and companionship always available. We usually meet on the first Thursday of the month at the Parish Hall Edington at 7.30 pm. Please ring if you would like more information.

On 2nd June we have some members’ gardens open in Court Lane Edington from 6.30 pm where a cream tea will be available. Entry is £2 for members and £4 for visitors. This event is only for members and invited guests.
