Edington & District Gardening Club – September News

A few members went along at the beginning of September to the Wholesale Nurseries at Poulshot. Hans had opened his nursery especially for local people to have a look around and of course we did not leave empty handed! Hans has been there for 30 years. The area has a very open aspect and is beautifully kept.  The plants are brought on outside to acclimatize making them very strong and healthy.  A huge reservoir for irrigation collects water from the buildings which shelter the plants over the winter. The nursery only supplies to the trade.

The Flower & Produce Show was a very good standard this year, the number of entries was only down in the children’s section, so come on you youngsters, come and have a go next year. The weather was horrendous in the afternoon putting off visitors to come and enjoy the show and the cream teas, however those that did venture out enjoyed themselves. A big thank you for the judges and to the committee for all their help.
