Edington Arts

BOOK NOW FOR A CHANCE TO SING!

Edington Arts’ 2022 Choral Workshop will take place in the Priory Church on Saturday October 22nd, from check-in at 9.30am to a final run-through at 5pm. Simon Carrington, founder member of the King’s Singers and leading international choral director and educator, will finally get to lead a day learning Britten’s ‘Rejoice in the Lamb’ and Elgar’s ‘God is Great’.

Simon is a wonderful teacher – patient, enthusiastic, experienced, and of course intensely musical. The Elgar is not that often performed, even though it has a great bass solo, majestic organ accompaniment and great lines for singers. ‘Rejoice in the Lamb’ is quirky, beautiful, somewhat unexpected, but quite rightly a staple for Cathedral choirs. Anything they can do, we can do too!

Our organist and accompanist for the day is Huw Williams, Director of Music at Bath Abbey, and we will welcome soloists from the Edington Festival Consort and Nave choirs.

Application forms are downloadable from the website, www.edingtonarts.org/whats-on, or you can email anne@edingtonarts.org and she will send you one as an attachment. The cost is £25 for the day, including arrival and mid-morning refreshments, and hire of both sets of music. Edington Angels have a 10% discount, and students in full time education or training need only pay £10.

A number of singers have already signed up, but there’s plenty of room, so why not join us?
