Christmas now seems a distant memory but we would like to publicly thank the Three Daggers for donating the village Christmas Tree this year and for providing the very welcome mulled wine and mince pies for the light switching on.
Thanks to the generosity of some of the residents and businesses of Edington plus a grant from the Area Board we have been able to order the swings for the playing field and these should be in place in the near future. Thank you very much to all those who have made this possible.
Nobody can have failed to notice the road works that have plagued the village during January. While disruptive, the good news is they have been laying fibre optic cables, which will enable faster broadband to be delivered in a few months. The cable is owned by BT, but like your current telephone and current broadband services, you will have to sign up to it through a commercial company. Households will hopefully be notified when the service goes live.
The Police report several thefts to cars, please insure you do not leave valuables on display in your cars while out walking on the hills. Poaching and hare coursing continue to be a problem if you see anything that arouses suspicion please ring the police. DO NOT tackle them direct as some of these gangs can dangerous.
