November 2014 – News from Jerry Wickham, Wiltshire Councillor

I very much enjoyed meeting up with villagers at the WI lunch on Wednesday 19th November in the Parish Hall. Not only did I have a splendid lunch I also won a raffle prize! It was good to be able to sit down and discuss issues and the history of the area in very genial surroundings and company.

I attended the Community Area Transport Group meeting yesterday (21st November) alongside Mike Swabey representing the Parish Council. This group includes by three fellow Wiltshire Councillors, members of Wiltshire Council highways officers and town and parish representatives and its remit is to look at issues relating to the roads, pavements and put forward small schemes to improve our area. You may recall, I have previously mentioned the handrail for the footpath to the Parish Hall and it is this group that funded this which was then ratified by the Area Board. I am pleased to advise that we have been notified that the work to install this is due to start in December. Hopefully, this will not take too long before it can be used.
