Edington Parish Council news for February 2017

Village Pond We are delighted to have been awarded £1000 grant by Wessex water  to restore the Duck pond  . We are now looking for volunteers to help bring it back to life. Contact Geoff Lupton 831398 if interested in helping

Annual Litter Pick   will take place on Saturday 4 March meet 9.30 at the church car park, litter pickers and tabards will be available. Come and help make the village smart again. All welcome .Our thanks go to the residents who litter pick all year. Without you all, the roads would be a lot worse.

Car Parking   The Parish Council have received a number of letters from residence of Downs View and Parsonage lane re the difficulty of pulling out onto the B3098 due to parked cars obstructing the sight line. We have passed this to county highways and await their response

Village Hall Car park  The Car park is owned and maintained by the Parish Council primarily for the use of the Parish Hall. It is a private car park but villagers are free to use it for short term  parking  but please check with the Parish Hall its availability, as it is a small car park and sometimes all the spaces are required. Please park considerately as a few cars have recently parked so badly that other users were unable to park here.  There is NO overnight parking or use by commercial vehicles. If personal circumstances require overnight accommodation for a short period please contact the clerk Malcolm Weick for permission.

Road Closure We have been informed that the B3098 will be closed from Monastery road to Tinhead road on the following dates in order for BT to do urgent repairs

27 March 28 March 29 March   from 9.30 to 3.30

Council elections   the County Councillor and the Parish Council are up for re-election this May .  Please give consideration to whether any villager would like to give something back to the community. It is not taxing and only requires a little of your time.   Applications to stand need to be in by 4 April for more information on what is required contact Malcolm Weick  or the Parish Council Chairman Mike Swabey or come to the next Parish Council meeting in March
